Working from home becoming the “in-thing”
With the rising everything, fuel, fares, food and other basic ammenities, people are seriously thinking about working from home. Its very easy for a computer developer, an online sales manager, or writer to achieve that. Woe unto you if you are a nurse or an engineer on a road. That you cant escape.
The trend to work at home is picking fast and people are restrategizing about housing, offices and commuting. If you cant get a cost-effective rental somewhere near town or office, you find yourself thinking about infrastructure to assist you work at home when you can. In our economy we have systems that dont allow for a flexible setting for office hours. This would come in handy where you can avoid traffic jams and save on fuel on your drive to work.
Traffic jams also have an impact on fares too.

So what do you do to work at home?
Home buyers and renters can jump this hurdle by spending abit more when buying a house. You can either convert one bedroom into your office or etch out a study room cum office out of the already finished house-only easy if you own the compound and and live on the ground floor.
A home office should be a place you love staying. Invest in good furniture, good interior design so that the colours and office plan bring the best in you. Make everything you use alot within reach. A wall shelf comes in handy to keep your books and other reference material. The lighting should be done well and you may add value by keeping a small fridge for some snacks and an occasional beer. A hot water dispenser and some coffee would be good if you have the space.
Personally i have perfected the art of working at home so well that it comes naturally. I just make use of an extra bedroom, installed a good fixed internet and added some furniture, and office equipment and viola! I got my office, where i wake up to every morning.
The thought of spending 4 hours in the traffic every day no-longer works for me. Time is very expensive to waste revving up a 20 meter hill for an hour.
Home offices arent for the people who dont go to offices only, they serve well when you need to do some research on your own time. Ideas come in when you are rested, and dont be surprised waking up from a dream and straight to the computer to document a new found idea.
It would be very nice of you if you shared this article. Thanks.
